We are pleased to be announcing our new Perth PoP (Point of Presence) as our team heads to Perth this week.

Already offering a wide range of hosting services throughout our Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane locations, we’re excited to be adding Perth to our map and becoming Australia’s largest hosting service provider.

As part of our expansion into Perth, we will be offering each of our virtual hosting platforms plus our shared hosting services, dedicated servers, colocation & our backup services including the new Idera (formally known as R1Soft) backup solution.

Situated in the heart of Perth’s CBD is Vocus’s PerthIX data centre.  PerthIX is a carrier neutral facility offering power redundancy and allows us to cross connect to multiple upstream providers & peering networks as we continue to build on our enterprise-grade network, Australia wide.

Get more with our new cPanel Cloud Hosting

We have some exciting times ahead of us as we start rolling out some of our biggest changes to our web hosting platform.

As we start to roll out our new Cloud cPanel servers next week, we are including a lot more with your web hosting then before and still for less than a cup of coffee.


In recent weeks, we have been working directly with the experts from SpamExperts to help deliver us our very own anti-spam email cloud hosting solution.  Included in our new cPanel cloud servers, e-mails will be better filtered and helping us to maintain the servers good reputation and also preventing our servers from becoming blacklisted.

Not being able to send e-mails can be very time-consuming and costly.  By introducing our new SpamExperts anti-spam e-mail cloud hosting solution, we can offer a more secure & reliable e-mail solution for our customers.


Introducing our new backup solution, we have recently deployed a number of new Idera (formally known as R1Soft) backup servers into each of our data centres.

Our new Idera backup solution simply allows our hosting customers to have better control when it comes to restoring their files & databases.  When logging into cPanel, you can now simply click on the R1Soft backup icon, select the files or databases that you would like to restore and a restore can be completed in just minutes.

There’s no more waiting around for the technical support team to complete your restore and lets you to restore your data quicker than before.
We’ve also added in the extra benefits with our new cloud cPanel servers including lightning fast LiteSpeed Web Server, CloudLinux to improve allocation of resources & our business hosting customers will experience the latest generation of our new Intel Enterprise SSD cPanel cloud servers.

We continue to deliver the quality & reliability that our customers have come to rely on us for here in Australia and we continue to deliver these qualities at an affordable price.

We’re cutting the red tape….

You’ve told us what you would like for us to change and we’re listening….

Recently we have announced that we are making some of our biggest changes for the first time in almost 5 years and we are now taking action with cutting the red tape on our policies, eliminating fees and creating a more productive and easier policy for our customers to enjoy.

We’re abolishing our invoice late fee policy so that we can better deliver our monthly invoice fee to you… even after the invoice due date.

We’re also cutting out the cancellation policy and changing the way we send out our overdue notices and suspending a service for your overdue invoices.

As of the 27th of October, we will be rolling out these changes to our terms and conditions after receiving your feedback.

  • All new invoices will now be issued 7 days before your new invoice due date and then followed by a friendly reminder 2 days before the invoice due date.
  • The first overdue notice will be sent on the first day after the invoice due date.
  • The second overdue notice will be sent on the second day after the invoice due date.
  • Finally, the third overdue notice and suspension notice will be sent on the third day after the invoice due date.
  • Resuming your service when it has been suspended is easy and can be automatically done once the invoice has been paid. Just remember that no late fee will be added to your overdue invoice.
  • For those invoices that are not yet paid 14 days after the invoice due date, the service will be automatically cancelled by our system.

We always encourage our customers to contact our Billing team who are always ready to assist with any assistance you may need with your invoices.

Mitigating a 35Gbit DDoS Attacks

As part of our on-going commitment to delivering a reliable hosting platform for our customers around Australia, we’re excited to continue our relationship with the guys at Micron21 who have created a purpose-built DDoS protection service to help us deliver a 100% up-time to our customers.

When it came to adding DDoS protection to our network, we took the time to understand the requirements of what can be delivered to us. We realised that the majority of DDoS protection on the market were only offered internationally, and would not fit with what we wanted to deliver to our end customers.  Utilising DDoS protection services  internationally simply meant that we would be routing our traffic internationally to have it cleaned.

By teaming up with the guys at Micron21, we are able to route any DDoS traffic domestically to their network to have it cleaned for us and than delivering only clean traffic back to our network.  This lets us offer the lowest latency when it comes to having DDoS traffic soaked & scrubbed for us.

In recent times, Micron21 have soaked & scrubbed large DDoS attacks towards our network while allowing our network to remain unaffected during the on-going attack.

These graphs show a recent attack reaching 34.11Gbps with almost 600,000,000 packets per minute.  We were able to re-route our traffic domestically to Micron21 for soak & scrubbing while we were able to continue delivering our services to our customers during the on-going attack.

This NTP DDoS amplification attack used the UDP protocol with a source port of 123 and destination port 80 towards the targeted HTTP service from more than 20,000+ unique IP addresses globally with approximately 5% (1028 IP addresses) of the DDoS traffic coming from within Australia.

The attack started as a 5gbit attack which was very quickly turned up to a 10gbit for 5 minutes and increased to a 20gbit attack followed by a brief 5 minute break and a final attempt to flood the network for 3 minutes reaching a peek speed of 34.1 gbit

1.1 TB of data was absorbed within 15 minutes.

The total duration of the attack lasted 1 hour with 70% of the attack traffic received in the first 15 minutes reaching a 95% percentile of 20gbits for the hour.

With the extra protection to our network, we have added this at no additional cost for our customers.

They’re the fastest Virtual Servers!

As technology evolves on a daily bases, so do we and we’re excited to be introducing our new Nitro Virtual Private Servers hosted on our new DELL R-Series infrastructure using SSD drives giving you the ultimately fastest virtual server yet.

Using the hardware RAID controller with these new SSD disk drives, we’re able to boost the I/O performance many times over than those of traditional hardware nodes that we use with SAS disk drives.

Our testing between creating virtual servers on our SAS disk drives and SSD disk drives has shown us that we can now create virtual servers up to 10 to 15 seconds faster.  Creating virtual servers on our SAS disk drives can take approximately 20 to 25 seconds compared to our SSD disk drives allowing us to now create virtual servers in under 10 seconds.
